LG’s webOS Hardware Revealed: 200 Million Units Already in Market, Sets Ambitious Target of 300 Million Units within 3 Years

At the recently held webOS Partner Summit 2023, LG unveiled its vision to transform itself into a media and entertainment platform company. With over 200 million webOS TVs in the market, LG aims to increase the number of hardware devices equipped with webOS to 300 million within the next three years.

LG has already started opening up webOS to other partners since 2021, allowing certain smart TV manufacturers (mostly smaller brands targeting specific markets, such as Aconatic in our region) to utilize the platform. Furthermore, LG announced its intention to expand webOS to other types of devices, including projectors, digital signage, and in-car entertainment systems.

In addition to the webOS operating system, LG is also developing content services such as webOS Hub, LG Channels 3.0 streaming service, and advertising services.
