Intel has announced the appointment of Lip-Bu Tan as the new CEO of the company, effective March 18, 2025. Tan will also join the board of Intel.
A seasoned executive and investor in the semiconductor industry, Lip-Bu Tan previously served as the CEO of Cadence Design Systems from 2009 to 2021. During his tenure, the company saw a revenue increase of 3200% and the stock price surged. Tan is also a co-founder of Walden Catalyst Ventures and serves on the boards of Credo Technology Group and Schneider Electric.
Educationally, Tan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Nanyang Technological University, a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from MIT, and an MBA from the University of San Francisco. He has been honored with the prestigious Robert N. Noyce Award in the semiconductor industry.
Former Intel CFO, David Zinsner, will return to his previous role, while Johnston Holthaus will assume the role of head of product at Intel.
