Mark Zuckerberg Deliberates on Crafting a Review Clip for Visio Pro Due to Meta Quest’s Superiority in Every Aspect

Mark Zuckerberg was interviewed on the Morning Brew Daily podcast (equivalent to news). His daughter thought that her father was a professional cow herder because she didn’t understand what Meta was. He explained the reason why as the number one leader of the organization, he had to come out and do product reviews of the competitor’s products until it became a dilemma.

Mark explained as he did in the original clip on Instagram that initially, he expected Vision Pro to be better than Meta Quest because it was seven times more expensive. However, Meta Quest would be superior in terms of “price to value.” But after trying out the Vision Pro glasses himself, he came to the conclusion that Meta Quest excelled in almost every aspect without the need to compare prices. The fact that Vision Pro came with the Apple brand made the general public assume it must be better. He wanted to counter this idea, hence the desire to make a review video.

Nevertheless, Mark stated that the entry of Vision Pro into this market would be beneficial to consumers. He himself enjoys competition, and having a competitor producing good products motivates him and his team to compete even more fiercely. Moreover, with Apple stepping in to boost the wearable glasses market, it piqued the interest of the general public. When people searched and found that Meta Quest was better at just $500, the sales of Quest increased as well.

When asked if his review of Vision Pro would be similar to the way Steve Ballmer, the former CEO of Microsoft, once ridiculed the iPhone in 2007, Mark’s response was that he did not mock Apple. He sees Apple as a formidable competitor and merely tells the truth as it is. He believes that Apple will improve their glasses fast, but he is confident that Meta will do it faster. Meta’s business model is an open model, unlike Apple’s closed model, and he is certain that his model will win in the long run.

He also spoke about his long-term direction, aiming for increased focus on Mixed Reality, a blend of virtual and real objects. This is reflected in the significant differences between Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3, with the color passthrough feature allowing real-world overlay in the glasses. His long-term goal is to create a world where holograms are superimposed on the real world.

He mentioned that devices like these glasses are the future of PCs or large screen TVs, not competing with the smartphone market but being the most important computer device for most people in the future. On the other hand, there are Ray-Ban Smart Glasses, which are small in size and do not have as many features as full-fledged glasses. They do not require as much processing power, but cover basic features such as taking pictures, having a microphone-speaker, listening to audio, and conversing with AI. These glasses are sufficient for the average person.
