Meta Reveals Advancement of Large-scale AI Models for Tailored Video Content Recommendations Across All Platforms

Tom Alison, the team leader at Facebook, shared information at a technology seminar hosted by Morgan Stanley, revealing Meta’s tech roadmap. By 2026, Meta has plans to develop an AI model to recommend content to support all video content across platforms, including Reels, short video service, and long-form videos.

Currently, Meta uses separate models for each product – Reels, Facebook Groups, and the main Facebook feed. Alison mentioned that the project is in its third phase, with Meta initially transitioning from using traditional server-based AI systems to GPU servers for improved processing efficiency. Preliminary findings show an increase in Reels viewing time by 8-10% and faster data learning.

In the current phase, Meta is focused on restructuring the system to allow core technologies to work together seamlessly across all platforms. This project extends beyond Reels development.

Regarding Generative AI development, Alison highlights the potential for creating chat tools with various capabilities. For instance, users posting about Taylor Swift could receive content suggestions through chat or integrate chatbots into group chats to facilitate idea-sharing.
