Meta has revealed that downloads of the large-scale language model Llama have surpassed 350 million times (specifically on Hugging Face) and has advanced versions of the model with over 60,000 instances on Hugging Face.
Llama is considered a predominantly open-source large language model, with almost 100% openness (subject to limited usage conditions for major IT and cloud companies only). It was first introduced in February 2023 and took 18 months to evolve into a popular model.
Currently, almost all major cloud companies worldwide have fully embraced Llama. The growth rate in recent months has been significantly high, with July 2024 alone seeing 20 million downloads. API calls through the cloud have doubled in the last 3 months, growing tenfold since January 2024.
Meta has also highlighted organizations that have adopted Llama internally, such as Accenture, AT&T, DoorDash, Goldman Sachs, Shopify, and Zoom.
TLDR: Meta unveils the success of Llama language model with over 350 million downloads and its integration in major organizations.
