Microsoft Conducts Advertising Trials in Windows 11 Start Menu

Microsoft is currently testing the display of advertisements in the Windows Start menu. These advertisements appear as apps in the Microsoft Store to help users discover new apps.

This testing is in beta status and is only available to a small group of users on Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3495, limited to users in the United States. Windows users on devices managed by organizations will not see any advertisements.

During this testing phase, users who do not wish to see advertisements can choose to disable them by going to Settings > Personalization > Start and selecting to turn off tips, apps, and more.

Microsoft emphasizes that the current advertising display status is for testing purposes only to gather feedback and may not be rolled out for general use.
