Microsoft has recently laid off an additional 650 employees in its Microsoft Gaming business, this time consisting of managerial and support staff, without impacting game development studios or hardware business. This restructuring comes after the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
Combined with the previous layoffs in January 2024 totaling 1,900 employees, Microsoft has now let go of 2,550 employees in its gaming business. Phil Spencer recently stated, “We need to make business decisions.”
