Microsoft Releases .NET 9 Preview 1 with Emphasis on Cutting-Edge Cloud-Native Features and AI Advancements.

Microsoft has released .NET 9 Preview 1 as part of their annual release cycle. Unlike .NET 8, which is a long-term support (LTS) version, the actual release of .NET 9 is expected towards the end of the year, with a regular support cycle of 18 months.

The primary theme of .NET 9 focuses on Cloud-Native workloads in collaboration with containers and Kubernetes. This direction was initially introduced in .NET 8, also known as .NET Aspire. Additionally, the second theme of .NET 9 revolves around AI capabilities. Microsoft is working with various partners, including Open AI and other open-source models, to enhance the performance of .NET-based applications in AI-related tasks.

You can now download .NET 9 Preview 1 from the .NET website. However, please note that it requires Visual Studio 2022 (v17.10 Preview 1) for compatibility.

TLDR: Microsoft has released .NET 9 Preview 1, which focuses on Cloud-Native workloads and AI capabilities. The release is anticipated later this year, with an 18-month support cycle. Download is available on the .NET website, requiring Visual Studio 2022 (v17.10 Preview 1) for usage.
