Microsoft Releases Windows 10 Extended Patch to Consumers, Limited One-Year Sale at $30 Dollars

Windows 10 will end support in October 2025, less than a year from now. After that, there will be no security patches provided. Organizations that are not ready to transition can purchase Extended Security Updates (ESU) for an additional 3 years, starting at $61 per device for the first year and increasing in subsequent years.

Recently, Microsoft announced that they will extend the ESU program to general consumers for the first time. They will only sell it for a single year (until October 2026) at a price of $30 per year. More details on the ESU program for consumers will be revealed later on.

TLDR: Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates after October 2025. Organizations can buy Extended Security Updates for an additional 3 years, while general consumers can purchase it for a single year at $30 per year until October 2026.
