MicroSoft Technologies Celebrates Half a Century of Innovation

Microsoft celebrated its 50th anniversary last night (founded on April 4, 1975) with former CEOs Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer in attendance. The company’s first product was the software Altair Basic, which Gates recently released the original source code for to the public. In 1980, Microsoft entered the operating system market with Xenix, a type of Unix, followed by MS-DOS in 1981.

Microsoft has had three CEOs so far: Bill Gates (1981-2000), Steve Ballmer (2000-2014), and Satya Nadella (2014-present).
