Prasert Chantrawongthong, Minister of the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE), has provided an update on the department’s achievements over the past three months. Collaborating with partners from both within the ministry and from government and private sectors, DE has announced 9 notable accomplishments.
DE Ministry’s Anti-Online Crime Center (AOC) 1441
The One Stop Service format tackles online crime 24/7, providing real-time monitoring, command, and operational response to effectively combat cybercriminals promptly. This system is linked to the Central Fraud Registry of the Banking Association and Audit Numbering System of the State Enterprise Policy Office.
Blockage of Illegal Websites and Online Gambling
Using cutting-edge technology, in collaboration with social media platforms, a total of 25,061 illegal websites and pages were blocked from October 1st to December 10th, 2566. Additionally, 4,592 online gambling websites were also closed down.
Investment and Human Resource Development in AI and Cloud
Partnerships with global companies are expected to generate economic value exceeding 300 billion baht from these collaborations. Huawei, for instance, aims to establish a center for AI and Cloud personnel development that will produce 10,000 to 50,000 AI and Cloud professionals per year in the next 5 years. Similarly, Google and DE will collaborate to explore the utilization of Generative AI and leverage the benefits of Google Cloud technology for Thai businesses. Moreover, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has met with Microsoft to develop the digital infrastructure further.
Global Digital Talent Initiative to Tackle Digital Workforce Shortage
The newly launched Global Digital Talent Visa (GDT Visa) aims to attract digital talents from top universities globally, totaling 600 universities certified as Digital Talent, and digital nomads who work mainly in the digital industry and are able to work from anywhere with an internet connection and a computer device. GDT Visa grants the following privileges:
– Residence Rights
– One-year work permit with visa
– Spouse and children can accompany with comparable visas
– Unlimited entry and exit to and from Thailand (Re-Entry permit)
– Access to special immigration channels (Fast Track) at designated international airports
World Competitiveness Center’s Digital Competitiveness Ranking has seen Thailand rise to the 35th place in 2023, up from 40th place in 2022, thanks to the efforts of the DE Ministry.
