Ministry of Digital Economy Restrains 135,279 Horse Accounts in First Quarter, Apprehends 869 Account Owners

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) has reported that the Anti-Online Crime Operation Center (AOC 1441) has suspended 135,279 accounts in the first 3 months of 2025 (excluding statistics on suspended or blacklisted accounts of the SEC and commercial banks), as well as severed the financial links of professional groups and call centers.

Additionally, they have apprehended 869 illegal SIM card accounts in accordance with the Prevention and Suppression of Technology Crime Act in the first 3 months of 2025, broken down as follows:
– January: 219 accounts
– February: 325 accounts
– March: 325 accounts

The DE ministry emphasizes that individuals involved in illegal accounts will face legal actions, urging prompt closure of bank accounts if unknowingly sold to others to avoid being listed and having all accounts suspended by all banks.
