For long-term strategies, there will be adjustments to curriculum development to include a Semiconductor Engineer program involving 1-2 years of additional study, online courses across universities, collaborative curriculum development with foreign universities, and funding for doctoral degrees, such as sending 25 students for chip design over 5 years.
Miss Supamas expressed confidence in achieving the production goals and assured companies looking to invest in Thailand of an adequate workforce. Previously, investors expressed concerns about the lack of highly skilled workers.
Last month, Malaysia announced a national semiconductor strategy aiming to train 60,000 semiconductor engineers.
