Nearly 6 out of 10 victims of sexual crimes in South Korea are minors targeted by Deepfake technology.

Information from South Korean police reveals that almost 60% of victims of sexual crimes involving Deepfake are minors, with 315 cases out of a total of 527 cases reported between 2021 and 2023, accounting for 59.8%.

The breakdown of victims of sexual crimes involving Deepfake in different age groups is as follows:
– Victims in their 20s: 32.1%
– Victims in their 30s: 5.3%
– Victims in their 40s: 1.1%

The number of minor victims has increased by 3.4 times in two years, from 53 cases in 2021 to 81 cases in 2022, and further rising to 181 cases in 2023 (totaling 315 cases). The perpetrators are predominantly also minors, with a high percentage of 75.8% in 2023.
