Netflix Ceases Studio Development of AAA-Caliber Games in California

In the latest gaming industry news by Game File, it has been reported that Netflix has ordered the closure of an AAA game development studio in California without clear explanation. This unnamed studio, known only by the internal code name Team Blue, was based in southern California and had attracted renowned game developers like Chacko Sonny, former producer of Overwatch, as studio head, Rafael Grassetti, art director of God of War, and Joseph Staten, creative lead of Halo, who joined the team in 2023. However, news about this studio has since disappeared, and all three individuals are no longer associated with it.

A Netflix spokesperson confirmed the closure of this studio but did not provide further details. As Netflix delves into the gaming business, they have adopted various strategies including acquiring game licenses, purchasing existing studio operations, and establishing new game development studios.
