Nintendo Sells 139.36 Million Switch Consoles, Mario Wonder Hits 11.96 Million Sets Sold

Nintendo released its financial report for the third quarter of December 2023, which corresponds to the company’s fiscal year 2024. Total sales for the nine-month period increased by 7.7% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.395 trillion yen. Net profit stood at 408 billion yen.

During the December quarter, Nintendo sold 6.9 million units of the Nintendo Switch, showing a decrease compared to the same quarter in December 2022. The cumulative sales of the console reached 139.36 million units. Software sales reached 66.87 million units, with the standout game being Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which sold a total of 11.96 million units.

In terms of first-party games, Nintendo has scheduled the release of Another Code Recollection (already released), Mario vs. Donkey Kong (February 16), and Princess Peach: Showtime (March 22) in the current quarter.

Nintendo also provided updates on its theme parks, including the upcoming Donkey Kong Country zone at Universal Studio Japan, scheduled to open this year, and Super Nintendo World at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida, with an expected opening in 2025.
