Nintendo has released its financial report for the third quarter of December 2023, which is the third quarter of the company’s 2024 financial year. Total sales for the nine-month period have increased by 7.7%, reaching 1.395 trillion yen, compared to the same period last year. The net profit is 408 billion yen.
In the December quarter, the number of Nintendo Switch units sold was 6.9 million, a decrease compared to the December quarter of 2022. Cumulative sales of the Nintendo Switch reached 139.36 million units, while software sales amounted to 66.87 million copies. The standout game in the quarter was Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which sold a total of 11.96 million copies.
As for first-party games scheduled for release in the current quarter, Nintendo has set the release dates for Another Code Recollection (already released), Mario vs. Donkey Kong (February 16th), and Princess Peach: Showtime (March 22nd).
Nintendo has also updated its plans for theme parks, including the addition of a new zone called Donkey Kong Country at Universal Studio Japan in Japan, set to open this year. In addition, Super Nintendo World at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida, United States, is scheduled to open in 2025.
