NVIDIA to Cease Production of Highly Sought-After GeForce RTX 3060 GPU on Steam Top List Currently.

News has surfaced unofficially from the Chinese forum Board Channels, a hub for PC hardware news, reporting that NVIDIA has informed graphics card manufacturers that they will cease production of the GeForce RTX 3060 series and allow orders for chips for the final batch.

The significance of this news lies in the fact that the GeForce 3060 is currently the most popular GPU on Steam, holding a market share of 5.71% in July 2024, followed by the distant former champion, the GeForce 1650 at 3.88%, and the GeForce 3060 Ti at 3.47%.

When tallying all GPUs from the 3060 family (3060 + 3060 Ti + 3060 Laptop), they collectively hold a market share of 12.8% on Steam. In comparison, the next series, the 4060 family (4060 + 4060 Ti + 4060 Laptop), has a combined market share of 9.22%.

The GeForce 3060, based on the Ampere architecture, was first introduced in January 2021 and officially launched in February 2021. As of now, it has been around for approximately 3 and a half years.
