NVIDIA Unveils Petite RTX 2000 Ada Generation Graphics Card with Energy-Sipping Capability of Merely 70W

NVIDIA has unveiled the petite RTX 2000 Ada Generation workstation GPU, originally known as the Quadro. The Ada Generation of RTX GPUs has been gradually released for both desktop and laptop models. It started with the top-tier RTX 6000 Ada Generation in September 2022, followed by the laptop version in March 2023 (the RTX 2000 for laptops was introduced back then, and the desktop version is just being launched today). The mid-range desktop models, the 5000/4000 series, will be available in August 2023, and the entry-level desktop model, the RTX 5880, will be released in January 2024. It can be said that the full range of price levels has now been covered.

The RTX 2000 Ada Generation is the smallest GPU in the series, with a power consumption rate of 70W and only 2,816 CUDA cores. However, it boasts a performance of 12 TFLOPS (slightly lower in cores and power consumption compared to the GeForce 4060). In terms of memory, it comes with 16GB GDDR6 ECC, suitable for memory-intensive workstation tasks and large-scale data processing. The GPU is priced at $625.

NVIDIA states that the RTX 2000 series is designed for embedded and edge computing applications, such as medical devices, factories, and retail environments, where space restrictions and heat dissipation limitations play a significant role. It focuses on upgrading from the previous generation RTX A2000, which also utilizes Ampere architecture and consumes 70W of power, but has a maximum memory capacity of only 12GB.

TLDR: NVIDIA has introduced the compact RTX 2000 Ada Generation workstation GPU, catering to embedded and edge computing applications. This small yet powerful GPU offers 2,816 CUDA cores, 12 TFLOPS of performance, and 16GB of GDDR6 ECC memory. It is designed for environments with space constraints and limited heat dissipation. The RTX 2000 series aims to provide efficient upgrades from its predecessors, supporting memory-intensive tasks with ease.
