NVIDIA’s CEO declares company the smallest yet largest in AI era global landscape.

Next week, NVIDIA will host the first-ever online NVIDIA GTC 2024 event, following the shift to online events since 2020. Greg Estes, the company’s Vice President of Marketing and Developer Programs, recently discussed this year’s event, describing it as a significant departure from previous years due to the increasing momentum of artificial intelligence.

The company’s value has increased approximately 20 times during the COVID-19 pandemic, driven by the cryptocurrency boom and the subsequent surge in AI adoption, leading to a continuous growth in graphic chip usage. Numerous AI companies are now measuring themselves against each other to determine who has the most chips.

Greg revealed that Jensen Huang consistently mentions to employees that while NVIDIA’s value has significantly increased, the company still only has around 30,000 employees. This is in contrast to other companies of similar size, such as Apple with around 160,000 employees, Alphabet with approximately 190,000 employees, and Microsoft with 220,000 employees. A similar-sized company, Meta, has approximately 70,000 employees (a decrease from the previous year). Additionally, NVIDIA stands out as the only AI company that collaborates with all other AI companies, acting as a neutral intermediary in the industry.

The upcoming GTC 2024 event is expected to attract 16,000 online participants and over 300,000 viewers online. The keynote keynote address will take place at the SAP Center, a large sports arena that can accommodate up to 17,000 people, separate from the San Jose Convention Center, which usually hosts the event. The event will feature 900 sessions, with speakers required to submit their topics for selection. Greg mentioned that more than 30% of submitted topics were excluded.
