OpenAI Prepares to Implement User Identity Verification for Enterprise-Level API

OpenAI is preparing to enhance identity verification for enterprise customers using their API, stating that this will allow developers to access the latest models on the platform while still maintaining security.

The authentication process for developers using OpenAI’s organizational API instructs them to use documents issued by government agencies to verify their identity. To use the API for an organization, the verification must be renewed every 90 days. OpenAI clarified that not all organizations will be required to undergo this authentication process. Users who do not go through the verification process can continue using the current models but will not have access to future AI models.

It is expected that OpenAI will introduce these identity verification requirements after reports of inappropriate API usage from certain countries.
