Optimizing Service Efficiency: Cloudflare Enhances Cache Purge Speed by 150ms, Implements Zstd Compression, and Anticipates Data Retrieval From the Source.

Cloudflare has announced an update to its CDN service, introducing several new features simultaneously to improve the speed and quality of web service delivery. Interesting features include:

Zstandard (zstd) data compression: a compression standard designed by Facebook. Supported by Chrome and Firefox browsers, zstd operates up to 42% faster than Brotli, while resulting in data that is 11.3% smaller than GZIP and comparable to Brotli.

Cache purge speed improvement: enhancements have reduced cache purge wait times by up to 90% (looking at the P50 median) to an average of only 149ms. This feature is now available for free to all customers, not just limited to Enterprise clients.

Speed Brain preloading system: predicts user behavior and preloads web pages from the origin server. This system eliminates the wait time for users accessing static websites, improving largest contentful paint (LCP) speed by 45%. Speed Brain is now open to all free package customers.

These features are part of Cloudflare’s CDN offerings. In addition to the current updates, the company plans to introduce new features tailored specifically for developers in the coming week.

TLDR: Cloudflare has enhanced its CDN service with faster data compression, quicker cache purging, and predictive webpage preloading capabilities to improve web service delivery speeds. More features are planned for developers in the near future.
