In a recent interview with game magazine ASCII Japan, Takuro Mizobe, the CEO of Pocketpair, the creators of Palworld, delved into the future of the game. Mizobe highlighted the choice between being a traditional buy-to-play game and a live service game using the free-to-play (F2P) model.
The interview hinted that Palworld may be leaning towards F2P, leading to a clarification on social media that the information discussed in the interview was outdated. The team was in deliberation about the game’s direction, eventually deciding to stick with the buy-to-play model instead of F2P or Game as a Service (GaaS).
Palworld explained that the game was not originally designed with the F2P model in mind and would require significant modifications to align with that approach, which may not align with player expectations.
Currently, Palworld’s focus is on improving the game itself before delving into plans for skins and future DLC content. The company is staying true to its buy-to-play nature and will not be adopting the F2P or GaaS model.

TL;DR – Palworld confirms it will remain a buy-to-play game and not transition to a free-to-play or Game as a Service model.
