Microsoft has appointed Pavan Davuluri as the new head of the Windows and Surface division, a position previously held by Panos Panay who has now moved to Amazon. In recent times, Windows was overseen by Mikhail Parakhin, while Surface was under Davuluri’s responsibility.
Under this new departmental structure, Davuluri will be in charge of both Surface hardware and the Windows operating system, while Parakhin will be exiting his position to seek a new role, possibly indicating a departure from the company. During this transition, Parakhin will report directly to Microsoft’s CTO Kevin Scott.
Rajesh Jha, Microsoft’s Executive Vice President, who Davuluri will be reporting to, stated that this restructuring is a part of a continuous process following the appointment of Mustafa Suleyman as the CEO of Microsoft AI, to ensure a cohesive development experience for Windows and devices under Davuluri. Meanwhile, the Web Experiences team, originally part of Windows, will now fall under the Microsoft AI team.
TLDR: Microsoft appoints Pavan Davuluri as the new head of Windows and Surface division, with changes in leadership signaling a strategic shift within the company’s organizational structure.
