Raspberry Pi has introduced the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W microcontroller board, featuring the RP2350 chip and Infineon CYW43439 wireless connectivity chip supporting 2.4GHz Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 5.2. The Pico 2 W board is similar in size to the Pico 2, with space reserved for the wireless chip. The CYW43439 chip supports high-bandwidth Wi-Fi up to 96Mbps and can host up to 4 devices for soft AP connectivity, encrypted with WPA3 standards. It interfaces with the microcontroller through SDIO v2.0.
Raspberry Pi also offers their own RM2 wireless chip with similar specs but has opted not to use it in their own boards, instead providing it to partner manufacturer Pimoroni. The Pico 2 W is now available for $7 and approximately 280 baht in Thailand.
