Pixel Users Encounter January Update Circularity Issue With Subsequent Storage Disappearance, Rendering Usability Inoperable.

Users of the Pixel phones have been reporting problems with the January update. After the update, their phones fail to mount storage, cannot open the camera app, and the Files app does not display any files at all.

This issue has affected users from Pixel 5 to Pixel 8/8 Pro, making it unclear what is causing the problem. Some users have mentioned that performing a factory reset allows them to regain access to their phones, despite losing all their data.

The Pixel team has acknowledged the problem and stated that they are currently investigating it.

Interestingly, a similar storage disappearance issue was discovered in October of last year, but it only impacted the Pixel 6 series.

TLDR: Pixel phone users have reported issues with the January update causing storage mounting problems, camera app failure, and the Files app displaying no files. The problem affects Pixel 5 to Pixel 8/8 Pro users, and a factory reset may resolve the issue, albeit erasing all data. The Pixel team is investigating the problem.
