Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks, has unveiled images of the Google Pixel 8a, the budget-friendly smartphone model for the year 2024, expected to debut at the upcoming Google I/O event next month.
The appearance of the Pixel 8a doesn’t stray much from the Pixel 7a. The significant difference lies in the slightly more curved corners and a change in the device’s color, transitioning from a red tone to a green tone. The blue-black color remains the same, while the gray color has been slightly adjusted to a more brownish tone.
The leaked specs reveal nothing out of the extraordinary. The processor is equipped with the Tensor G3 chip, similar to the Pixel 8. It boasts IP67 water and dust resistance, AI features like Night Sight, Audio Magic Eraser, Circle to Search, Call Assist, and a guaranteed 7-year update support, matching the flagship Pixel models. This makes the Pixel 8a the first budget model to receive a 7-year update guarantee.
Promotional images suggest that the Pixel 8a will go on sale on May 16th, with no leaked price information available yet.
