Prior to this, there was a question of whether Nintendo would have to increase the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States or not. This arose shortly after its launch, when President Donald Trump announced new import tariffs on products, with the majority of Switch production bases in Vietnam facing a new tax rate of 46%.
Nintendo’s current response may be “requesting time to establish principles.” They have stated that the pre-order launch of the Switch 2 in the US, originally scheduled for April 9th, has been postponed in order to assess the impact of the new import tax and related conditions. Nintendo will announce a new pre-order date at a later time. However, the initial sale date of the Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, remains unchanged.
The announcement for the postponement of the Switch 2 pre-order is only applicable in the United States. Other countries will proceed as initially planned.

TLDR: Nintendo may delay the pre-order launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 in the US due to new import tariffs imposed by President Trump, with a tax rate of 46% on products primarily manufactured in Vietnam. The sale date, however, remains unchanged for now.
