Reports indicate that Meituan, China’s leading food delivery app, has begun recruiting employees who speak Arabic and English in preparation for expanding into more international markets. The current target is Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
According to the plan, Meituan will use the brand KeeTa, which is currently operating in Hong Kong, to also establish a presence in Saudi Arabia.
Meituan CEO Wang Xing has previously mentioned the potential for international market expansion, suggesting that it may take up to 10 years to achieve. The company does not have any immediate plans to accelerate market expansion and will carefully consider all options before proceeding.
Currently, prominent food delivery apps in the Middle East include Delivery Hero, Deliveroo, and Jahez.
