Samsung recently introduced its Galaxy AI, which incorporates Google’s Gemini, into its devices last year. This move sparked speculation that Samsung’s intelligent assistant, Bixby, may be on its way out.
However, in a recent interview with CNBC following the Galaxy Unboxed event, TM Roh, President of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience business, revealed that Bixby is set to receive a major update this year. This update will feature the use of Samsung’s in-house LLM model.
TM Roh also confirmed that Samsung’s AI strategy remains focused on providing users with a variety of AI options. This means that even though Bixby may be getting a new facelift, Gemini on Galaxy devices will remain unchanged.
Samsung’s proprietary LLM model, named Gauss in honor of mathematician Friedrich Gauss, is set to be at the forefront of these developments.
