Meta announces the launch of the Llama API at LlamaCon 2025, offering services to external developers, enabling them to create applications on Llama 4 instantly through the OpenAI SDK.
Despite operating its own platform, Meta confirms collaboration with other service providers to simultaneously offer Llama 4 services. Currently, Cerebras and Groq are providing test versions of Llama 4 through the Llama API. Users can choose to run models through any service provider specified in the API.
For fine-tuning, the Llama API offers tools to train Llama 3.3 8B internally. Users can create their own data sets, train models, and create test sets for measurement. Once users have the desired model, they can download and run it anywhere they choose.
Currently, the Llama API is in a closed testing phase, requiring advance application submission.
