Facebook has announced an update to the way content is displayed in the feed, stating the desire to bring back the original atmosphere (OG) of old-school Facebook, where it was all about posts from friends. While Facebook acknowledges that the addition of new features such as Groups, Video, Marketplace, among others, has significantly reduced the ambiance of friends’ posts.
Facebook will revamp the Friends tab, originally used to search for acquaintances, into a feed that exclusively consolidates posts from friends on Facebook, including regular posts, Reels, Stories, birthday reminders, as well as friend requests. There will be no display of recommended content from pages or friends who are not being followed.
For those eager to try it out, they may have to wait as Facebook mentioned that the new Friends tab will first roll out in the United States and Canada with no specified timeline for other countries.
TLDR: Facebook is bringing back the OG feel by revamping the Friends tab, focusing solely on posts from friends while leaving out recommended content from pages or non-followed friends.
