Qualcomm has reported its financial results for the second quarter of the fiscal year 2025, ending on a high note. Total revenue reached $10.979 billion, marking a 17% increase from the same period last year. The net income under GAAP accounting stood at $2.812 billion.
The revenue from the chip distribution business, known as QCT, saw an 18% growth to $9.469 billion. This growth was primarily driven by a 12% increase in smartphone products revenue, totaling $6.929 billion, a staggering 59% increase in automotive revenue to $959 million, and a 27% increase in revenue from IoT products to $1.581 billion. On the other hand, the licensing business QTL generated revenue of $1.319 billion, which was consistent with the previous year.
Qualcomm’s executives discussed the impact of import tax policies on the company, with CFO Akash Palkhiwala highlighting the global spread of the company’s supply chain. CEO Cristiano Amon stated that, so far, the company has not faced any major issues from the aforementioned uncertainties.
Amon also spoke about risk diversification in the QCT business, aiming to increase chip sales for automotive and IoT, with opportunities arising from VR devices and Windows operating systems.
