Qualcomm unveils 2 new communication chips at MWC 2024.
The Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System is a new version of the 5G modem that supports the upcoming 5G Advanced standard, which has not yet been released. It also supports NB-NTN satellite communication, 6 antenna smartphone configurations, and features an AI chip to accelerate signal processing speed. Products utilizing the X80 are set to be released in the latter half of 2024.
Meanwhile, the Qualcomm FastConnect 7900 is the first wireless chip to combine Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, and Ultra Wideband into a single chip. Manufactured using 6nm process and equipped with AI features to enhance signal processing, devices utilizing this chip are expected to hit the market in the second half of 2024.
