Red Hat Unveils Lightspeed AI Model for Kubernetes and RHEL Management

Red Hat has unveiled Lightspeed feature in Generative AI for managing OpenShift (Kubernetes) systems and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The company has been offering Lightspeed since 2023, leveraging the IBM Watson Code Assistant programming model to work with Ansible YAML code for automated configuration management.

This announcement expands Lightspeed to be compatible with OpenShift and RHEL, the two main services of Red Hat. It serves as a tool to automate cluster management in OpenShift, scaling clusters up or down based on usage demand. On the RHEL side, the focus is on managing security patches and temporarily closing vulnerable systems.

Red Hat states that while experienced administrators can handle these tasks, Lightspeed empowers new administrators to perform better. It also aids seasoned administrators in managing large systems with fewer human resources.

OpenShift Lightspeed is set to launch by the end of 2024, while the timeframe for introducing Red Hat Enterprise Linux Lightspeed has not been announced yet.
