Refutation of Elon Musk’s Purchase Proposal by OpenAI

OpenAI made a statement through Bret Taylor, the chairman of the board, stating that OpenAI is not intended for commercial purposes. The board meeting resolved to officially reject the offer to purchase the Non-Profit business by Elon Musk.

Previously, Elon Musk and a group of partners had made an offer to acquire OpenAI’s Non-Profit business for 9.74 billion dollars. However, they later stated that they would withdraw this offer if the OpenAI board confirmed that they would not change the company structure to support more For-Profit activities, which goes against the initial mission of OpenAI.

OpenAI’s statement confirms that any changes to the company structure will be aimed at strengthening the Non-Profit aspect, in line with the core mission of developing beneficial AGI for humanity.

TLDR: OpenAI rejects Elon Musk’s offer to purchase their Non-Profit business, emphasizing their commitment to advancing beneficial artificial general intelligence for the betterment of humanity.
