Registration of Mastodon Company in America Without Profit-seeking After License in Germany Revoked.

Mastodon is a decentralized social platform that allows users to create their own server. They recently registered as a non-profit corporation in the United States in order to utilize donations for tax deductions.

The philosophy behind Mastodon is centered around prioritizing user benefits over profit, as opposed to serving shareholders, as founder Eugen Rochko has emphasized. While initially registered as a non-profit in Germany, complications led them to seek registration in the US instead.

Additionally, Mastodon has appointed a board of 5 individuals in the US, including Esra’a Al Shafei from Wikimedia Foundation, Karien Bezuidenhout from the social enterprise sector, technology expert Amir Ghavi with a focus on quantum computing, Mastodon’s CEO Felix Hlatky, and the notable Biz Stone, co-founder of Twitter.

TLDR: Mastodon transitions to a non-profit entity in the US, prioritizing user benefits and appointing a diverse board including tech and social enterprise experts, as well as the co-founder of Twitter.
