Release of Wikileaks Founder, Julian Assange, after Cooperating with the US Government from Prison in the UK

After spending a staggering 1,901 days behind bars at Belmarsh maximum security prison in the UK, Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks, has finally been released. The reason for his release stems from negotiations with the US Department of Justice, although specific details remain scarce. Under this agreement, Assange has been sent back to his native Australia, where his family resides. According to Wikileaks’ Twitter account, Assange has successfully boarded a plane out of the UK.

Over the past few years, the US government has been attempting to extradite Assange to face charges related to leaked information on Wikileaks, which they deemed a threat to national security. However, after years of legal battles, a mutual agreement was reached. Assange has agreed to accept responsibility for some charges in exchange for being allowed to return home.

TLDR: Julian Assange is finally free after spending over 1,900 days in prison. He has been released and sent back to Australia under a negotiated agreement with the US Department of Justice.
