Meta is not giving up on the virtual world like VR/AR/XR/MR/Metaverse (or whatever you want to call it) and is setting up a $50 million fund to support creators in building content on their own Horizon Worlds platform.

The first theme for 2025 is to invite friends to use the Horizon mobile app, while other themes will change monthly. (Thailand is not currently listed as a country with the Meta Horizon Creator Program).

According to RoadtoVR, Horizon Worlds has been around for a while but hasn’t quite taken off. Meta is now trying to bring Horizon Worlds to common flat-screen devices like smartphones to reach a wider audience, but this also makes it harder for VR content creators to work. The goal of this fund is to pay to support the creation of content in Horizon Worlds.

Previously, there were leaks that Andrew Bosworth, the CTO of Meta, sent an internal memo to employees, stating that 2025 is the most crucial year for the XR/MR team to break down walls and reach their goals.
