Airbnb has announced a new rule that mandates accommodation spaces to not have closed-circuit cameras inside the premises. Previously, cameras were only prohibited in bedrooms and bathrooms, with hosts required to clearly state before booking if cameras were present.
Furthermore, the new rule also enforces that cameras installed outside must not capture areas that require privacy, such as common bathing areas or saunas. In the case of audio recordings, they are only allowed at a certain level of volume and are strictly prohibited in private areas except for common areas of the accommodation.
This new rule will be effective starting April 30th, with hosts who fail to comply facing the maximum penalty of having their accounts suspended.
TLDR: Airbnb introduces new rule banning indoor cameras and restricting outdoor cameras from capturing private areas, with non-compliance leading to account closure.
