Revamped SaGa Frontier 2: A 1999 Videogame on PS1 with Watercolor Art Style Released

Square Enix announces the remaster of SaGa Frontier 2, available now on almost every platform including Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Steam, iOS, and Android (except for Xbox as usual).

SaGa Frontier 2 is a member of the SaGa series that was originally released on the PS1 in 1999, known for its distinctive watercolor art style, a departure from the 3D games of that era. It stands as the 8th installment in the SaGa series (with the first 3 on the FC as SaGa, and 4-6 on the SFC as Romancing SaGa).

The first SaGa Frontier game, released in 1997, was remastered in 2021, so it’s no surprise that SaGa Frontier 2 would follow suit. The storyline of SaGa Frontier 2 revolves around two protagonists, Prince Gustave who is unable to use magic, and the adventurer William Knights. Players will take on the roles of both protagonists, switching between them. The gameplay features turn-based RPG elements typical of the era, with some tactical RPG elements as well, including unit placement in large-scale battles.

The remastered version enhances the graphics to HD, revamps the UI with new menus, adds new story content not present in the original game, and includes mini-games that were previously only available on the PocketStation in Japan.

TLDR: Square Enix has remastered SaGa Frontier 2 for multiple platforms, offering improved graphics, new content, and a mix of turn-based and tactical RPG gameplay.
