Motive Studio, a subsidiary of EA known for creating the remakes of Dead Space and Star Wars: Squadrons, has announced that they are forming a new team focused on developing the Battlefield franchise.
Byron Beede, the general manager of the Battlefield franchise, revealed that Motive Studio, known for their expertise in utilizing Frostbite engine and storytelling, is assembling a team dedicated to developing Battlefield games specifically. They will collaborate with DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect to create a comprehensive Battlefield gaming experience for both multiplayer and single-player.
Additionally, Patrick Klaus, the general manager of Motive Studio, disclosed further details that Philippe Ducharme, the head of studio management, and Roman Campos-Oriola, the creative director of the Dead Space Remake game, will lead the new team in collaboration with Vince Zampella (general manager of Respawn and Battlefield) and Byron Beede.
Meanwhile, the development of the Iron Man game announced in 2022 is progressing well under the leadership of Olivier Proulx, known for his work on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
With recent quality issues in the development of Battlefield games by DICE, EA has shifted focus and brought in multiple studios within the organization to enhance game development strategies, resembling Activision’s approach with the Call of Duty franchise involving nearly 10 different studios for game development.
TLDR: Motive Studio, under EA, is forming a new team to work on the Battlefield franchise, collaborating with multiple studios within EA to enhance game development strategies similar to Call of Duty’s approach.
