Microsoft has released the Patch Tuesday update for October 2024 for Windows 11, in addition to the regular security patches. For users of Windows 11 version 24H2, a significant new feature is the ability to adjust the scroll wheel direction in the Settings app.
Throughout the history of Windows, we have never been able to adjust the mouse scroll wheel to scroll up or down (while touchpads could adjust scroll direction, mice could not). Users who wanted to customize this had to rely on third-party software. But now, Windows allows for this customization.
In addition to the scroll direction settings, this update also adds the option to disable pointer precision, which helps to make mouse pointer movements more accurate (for those who may not like it or have issues with it). Microsoft introduced these two options in the Windows Insider program back in August, and they are now available for general usage.
