Activision has revealed the numbers of banned accounts in the latest round of cheating reports in the game titles Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. The company has taken action against over 6,000 accounts that were found to be cheating and hacking between February 16 and 20.
In response, Activision has disabled certain in-game codes that granted players special perks for a limited time (such as perks that make players move faster than others) and continuously updated the game’s security measures. The team also temporarily shut down the Telemetry system (used for measuring and sending real-time data remotely) to upgrade the system in the past week. However, the cheat program developer RICOCHET claimed that the Telemetry system shutdown prevented the game’s anti-cheat system from working.
But in reality, the team has been monitoring player activities throughout the past week and has now reactivated the upgraded Telemetry system. This allows them to identify and ban players who cheat and hack the game, resulting in over 6,000 banned accounts.
The recent update for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone Season 2, released at the beginning of February, added 3 new maps for the multiplayer mode 6v6, a new map for Warzone, new missions for the zombie mode, and a crossover event with the Walking Dead franchise.
