Market analyst Mat Piscatella from Circana has revealed that the sales of Nintendo Switch in the United States currently lag behind PlayStation 2 with only 1.41 million units. Mat calculated the sales from all retail partners until May 4, 2024.
Furthermore, Mat predicts that the recently released games in the latest Nintendo Direct such as Mario & Luigi: Brotherhood, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and other games slated for release in the next 2 years will eventually propel Switch sales surpassing PS2.
If Switch succeeds in outselling PS2, the next target for Switch to surpass in the US is the Nintendo DS. Currently, global game console sales rank PS2 at number 1 with 155 million units, followed by NDS at 154 million units, and Switch at 141.32 million units.
