AWS partners with Access Partnership, a policy consulting firm, to release a survey report titled “Elevating AI Skills: Preparing Asia Pacific Workforce for Future Jobs.” The survey gathered insights from over 1,600 employees and 500 employers in Thailand.
An intriguing finding is that employees with AI skills and expertise believe they have a 41% higher chance of a salary increase. The two categories with the highest income potential are IT professionals (54%) and business operations specialists (51%). Employers anticipate a 58% increase in overall organizational productivity with AI-skilled personnel, citing improved communication, automating repetitive tasks, and acquiring new skills.
However, the survey also highlights the challenge of AI skills shortage. 90% of employers prioritize hiring AI experts, yet 64% struggle to find suitable candidates. Additionally, 89% of employers admit a lack of knowledge on AI workforce training programs, while 81% of employees doubt the relevance of AI skills to their careers.
AWS introduces the AI Ready program, launched in November 2022, offering free AI and Generative AI training courses, along with over 100 free resources through AWS Educate and paid options like AWS Skills Builder.
