This game serves as a sequel to the Famicom Detective Club series, which was released in 2 parts between 1988-1989 on the Famicom console and later remade for the Switch in 2021.
Emio is produced and written by Yoshio Sakamoto, a designer who has previously worked on the first 2 installments of the series, with a gap of approximately 35 years between them. The storyline of this game follows the discovery of a student’s death with a paper bag over their head in a town plagued by the legend of a killer named Emio, who made an appearance 18 years prior. Players take on the role of an assistant detective assisting the police in solving murders in this town.
The game is scheduled to be released on August 29th on the Nintendo Switch.
