After Larian Studios announced they were done with Baldur’s Gate 3 and Hasbro, as the franchise owner, confirmed they were in talks with other game studios for a sequel, Larian Studios recently updated fans through the Baldur’s Gate 3 Steam page that they will continue to release minor updates for the game. The latest update, Patch 7, officially introduces a mod system and promises that a Photo Mode and Crossplay will be coming soon.
As for Larian Studios’ future plans, they have made it clear that they will not release any DLC for Baldur’s Gate 3 or develop a fourth installment. Instead, they will return to their roots as an independent studio focused on creating original content. They have two projects in development and will reveal more details when they are ready. The team is dedicated to these new projects with the same passion as they had when working on Baldur’s Gate 3. CEO Swen Vincke stated, “We are working on a game that will be our best work ever.”

TLDR: Larian Studios will no longer work on Baldur’s Gate 3, but will continue to provide updates for the game. They are focusing on creating new independent projects that they believe will surpass their previous work.
