Revised EU Version of Spotify App Submitted to App Store, Now Includes Pricing Info Beyond In-App Purchases But Excludes Links

Spotify has announced the release of a new application to be launched on the App Store for iOS users in the European Union (EU), increasing the transparency of pricing packages and relevant information without linking back to Spotify’s website, in compliance with the minimal requirements set by the European Commission (EC) following Apple’s App Store antitrust ruling.

Previously, Spotify complained to the EC that applications with direct payment links to Spotify’s website were being delayed approval for the App Store by Apple. Dustee Jenkins, Spotify’s Head of Public Affairs, stated that requiring developers to pay fees if they have external payment links outside of Apple’s platform goes against EU law, urging the European Union to enforce this issue for the maximum benefit of consumers.

As of now, the Spotify app version for the European Union has not yet been approved for the App Store.

TLDR: Spotify introduces a new app on the App Store for EU users, complying with EC regulations while calling out Apple for antitrust violations.
