Microsoft is giving Microsoft Teams for Personal a makeover, previously known as Microsoft Teams (free). The Windows and web client versions have been revamped with a fresh, vibrant color palette tailored for personal use, distinct from organizational accounts.
Microsoft has been pushing Teams as a chat-video call app for friends and family, integrating it into Windows 11. However, the app hasn’t seen much success as there are many competitors in the private chat app market. Also, having two versions of Teams has caused issues, as cross-account messaging isn’t supported.
In August, Microsoft successfully merged the two clients together, albeit with different login types resulting in varying tab appearances. Microsoft Teams for Personal now includes badges for creating interest-based groups and communities, with the group owner displaying a Community Owner badge.
TLDR: Microsoft overhauls Microsoft Teams for Personal, integrating private chat features and introducing badges for interest-based groups.
